Geogrids are net-shaped reinforcement material. They are manufactured from polypropylene or polyester and are mainly classified on the basis of manufacturing process. They are either extruded & oriented or welded mesh of interlaced extruded polymer bars or woven with PVC coating.
They are used to reinforce earth-fill slope, wall and base layer construction. Incorporated in the base layers of paved or finished surfaces, base courses in railway or in surface layers of retaining walls and slopes. The stabilization & reinforcement occurs because of the interlocking of the fill material with the grid. The interlocking effect is determined by the geogrid strength, mesh size and base materials used.
