USE OF STEEL GABIONS AND MATTRESSES FOR VARIOUS APPLICATIONS
Garware Steel Gabions are factory fabricated boxes made up of Steel Wire nettings (Fig.1). These are manufactured from mechanically double twisted hexagonal wire mesh using Heavily Galvanized steel wire. Mechanically woven double twisted meshes are non raveling and the edges of the mesh are reinforced with a thicker wire called the selvedge/edge wire. In case of applications in marine or highly corrosive environment, an additional protection is provided by extruding 0.5mm thick PVC coating over the heavily galvanized wire.
Once filled with stones at the site, these Gabions form a variety of monolithic structures like Retaining walls, Landslide and Rockfall prevention structures, Erosion and scour protection works, various types of Hydraulic / Coastal structures for river and channel protection like weirs, check dams, groynes etc.
These Gabions are easy to install at site using simple tools and labour. Refer our Installation Guideline Manual for procedures to be followed while installing gabions at site. They are provided with one diaphragm at every 1m length.
